Rowan is a gorgeous black floof with big eyes and an extravagant plume of a tail. From the pictures we saw of her before we picked her up, and her first day with us, we thought that she was also a munchkin type kitty. However her fluffiness hid the fact that she was so scared by her outdoor life, then the new surroundings that she was walking hunkered down. She now walks, runs and plays perfectly normally and thoroughly enjoys living with the Oak cats and her foster’s 8 adult cats. She plays with all the others, old and young. Rowan came from a very small colony of cats living near a baseball field. Her mother appeared to only have one kitten. She was not a very attentive mother and abandoned her when she was 8 weeks old to wander around the area on her own. A local man feeds this colony, and she began hanging around in the evening waiting for him to turn up and feed her. She wanted attention but was terrified to allow him to do more than scratch her head before running away. With his help we managed to trap her and bring her to safety. She was delighted when she was permitted to be with the Oak kittens and is now a bright, lively girl. She is still very nervous about being picked up, but once she is lifted into someone’s arms she likes to be cuddled, petted and have her chin scratched. She does not like to be held for long, though, and will make little ‘okay, I’m done now, I want down’ noises. She likes people and being in their company. Like the other kittens in this group, she may never be a lap cat, but she is still a sweet, adorable girl who, after weeks of being lonely is thriving on being among people and other cats.
This kitty is currently in a loving foster home and has been tested negative for FIV/FELV, microchipped, has age-appropriate vaccinations, and has been spayed/neutered.
